Stopped here late in the day after arriving in Port Dinorwic and wanting an easy dinner and to tick off another item on the to do list ( photo with the railway sign).

Anyhow... The food here is good, not spectacular, but good. The chips are fabulous, fish and everything else are ok. But, the real shocker is the cost, it's damned expensive, nearly double what I've paid for the same order for 2 adults and 2 kids in London chippies.

If your desperate for good chips and don't mind the price stop by. If you're after a meal for a family, try one of the pubs up the road.

Yes... we stop in LlanfairPG.  The woolen mill is a tourist trap, but as of right now, it is still the most convenient place to stop for lunch with 51 university students in tow.  Unfortunately we always manage to stop right when there are loads of other groups there, however in half an hour they are usually on their way to the Holyhead docks.

I prefer to head across the street to this fish and chip shop.  Usually everyone heads to the cafe in the woolen mill and I get this place to myself, however, this time there was a line out the door.  It isn't very large, there is a seating area inside as well as upstairs and there are a couple of tables and benches outside.  For a small shop, they handled the line very quickly and efficiently.  I do find it a bit on the expensive side, however, being the only fish and chip shop there, they are poised to make a pretty penny off of very hungry tourists.  £8 for chips, fish, and a can of Pepsi just seemed extortianate.

The chips are always lovely and done just right.  The fish... has been a bit hit and miss in the past (the batter not completely done), but this time it was done just right and it was a nice huge piece.  I will say that the lady behind the counter is always nice when my students come in and ask her to say the name of the town.  They also do the standard run of takeaway items, plus they do ice cream (both on a cone and popsicle/ice lollies) which seems to be pretty popular as well.  Make sure you bring your cash as they don't take cards.

I am 65 and have eaten fish and chips throughout europe not just britain and can honestly say these are the worst I have ever bought, even worse than those I bought in glasgow last year, over priced, under cooked and miniscule portions, these people couldn't make a living frying fish any where else, awful!!!!!!!!!!
